“I enjoyed the humor and the shots it took at Mattel. The music was a lovely addition. I liked the storyline with the mom and the kid. I struggled to connect with the movie as other people had. But overall it was a really good movie.”

“ Very good movie. Humorous from a ‘mature’ teenager boy’s perspective and good storyline. Ending could have been a little better but overall a good movie set to make a good point about today’s society.”

“Very fun movie. Takes a simple concept and makes it an interesting study of gender inequality that was much more emotionally grounded than I was expecting. The comedy worked well for most of the movie, but it would occasionally take me out of the serious moments. The movie lost its subtlety throughout, but spread an important message in a unique and fun way. Greta Gerwig is an amazing director. Overall, a really solid movie and a great theater experience.”

“ I loved it and the unique aspects of feminism. It was both comedic and super sad with the display of feminine experience. It’s important to bring gender inequalities to light, and I think Greta Gerwig did a great job of doing so. I knocked 2 points off for the capitalistic aspects with the various product placements, but it made fun of itself doing it so i didn’t have a significant problem with it”

“The movie was different than I was expecting. I was expecting a fun, goofy movie with two of my favorite actors, and while that was kind of the vibe, there was a much deeper message that I didn’t know would be as pivotal to the plot. Margot Robbie’s performance was very powerful and while a lot of people had issues with it, I thought the execution of the message was perfect. If I had to describe it in one word it would be “sublime”.

“It was a good movie however I felt like they had too many messages that they were trying to get across and focused more on these messages instead of entertainment and they lost some of my interest. But I did love the sets and costumes.”

“I really enjoyed the Barbie movie. The way that they made Barbie land come to life was amazing, and the soundtracks were awesome as well. I loved that it voiced what so many women feel in real life, so that’s why so many people were able to connect to it. Overall I loved the movie!”

“The first half was slightly boring and the last 5 minutes was way too sappy for me. However, the second half of the movie was incredible and the choreography, costume design, and songwriting was great. Although I don’t agree with the idea of a patriarchal society, that was the most entertaining part of this movie.”

“This movie was one that I’ll remember forever. I think everyone expected it to be cheesy and lighthearted but it was really insightful and thought provoking.”

“I really liked the movie. I thought it covered a lot of things that women struggle with on a daily basis while at the same time making me relive my childhood and realize how fun it is to be a woman. Personally, I wish that Barbie didn’t dislike Ken as much as she did. In the original movies, they loved and respected each other so I wasn’t expecting them to be against each other. Overall, the Barbie Movie was really cute!”
