North Students Weigh in on Inauguration Day

The inauguration from one U.S. President to another is a historical event that citizens get to take part in every four years.

For the past two months, Donald Trump has been preparing for this day.

“Every four years, we gather on these steps to carry out the orderly and peaceful transfer of power,” Trump said during the inaugural address.

The Inauguration Ceremony took place on the West Lawn of Capitol Hill on Jan. 20th, 2017 with about 1.5 million attendees and millions more online, witnessing the historical event.

One definition of the word inauguration is a ceremony to mark the beginning of something.

Whether you think that is good or bad, there is no doubt change is coming.

North student Briana Osmon, freshman, shared her opinions on President Trump.

I think as a businessman he does have some [good] qualities, but he doesn’t have presidential qualities,” Osman said.

Osmon feels that President Trump is not qualified for office and says that Hillary Clinton, as a former first lady and experience politician, would have been a more suitable president.

Caleb Deckard, also a freshman, has an alternative opinion. He believes in President Trump and is positive about the next four years.

I think he’s gonna do great, he’s going to bring jobs that we really need in this country,” Deckard said.

Although many people are speculating how President Trump’s time in office will turn out, he’s been in office for only a week and we don’t yet know how the next four years will turn out. It’ll be good to stay optimistic and we hope the next for years will have a positive turnout.
