The girls golf team got a new coach this year in Harrison Carmichael. This will be
his first year coaching girls golf. Carmichael is also the boys golf coach at North.
Junior Golfer Kate Johnson said, “I’m excited to see what he brings to the team.”
With the golf season being so short they are packed with events this season. Playing at more difficult courses than last year, many of the girls shared their excitement for this season. “I’m excited to experience a great year with my team, under new management” said Junior Alli Rensi.
Unlike last year, the team started a fundraiser to raise money this year for new golf bags, jerseys, and better tournaments.
Practices are looking a little different this year as well. Carmichael is focusing more on the top 5 varsity golfers during practice to keep them dialed for events. Focusing more on the
fundamentals of golf will be huge for these players.
After a match or tournament, the top 3 with the best scores are safe for qualifying rounds, however that leaves the rest of the girls to compete against each other to gain a playing spot for the next round. Even with the pressure being high, each time the girls always post solid scores trying to earn a spot.
With all the new opportunities the girls are motivated to keep improving as the season goes forward.
