Varsity Boys Basketball
Cougs on the rise! With the help of the varsity basketball boys and supportive classmates, there’s no stopping the boys from working their hardest.
The boy’s first game of the season started on Nov. 25, at Bedford North Lawrence. The game ended with North losing, scoring 65-59. The Cougars went against Centergrove Trojans on Dec. 2. The score ended with Centergrove scoring 77 points while North got 68.
“It’s been a rough start for us but we’re improving and working our best to achieve our goals,” freshman Issac Vencel said.
The boys played Perry Meridian on Dec. 8. The Falcon’s beat North, 71-56. The next day, the Evansville Reitz Panthers beat North on Dec. 9, scoring 56-49.
The Cougars went up to Indianapolis, and went against the Southport Cardinals on Dec. 15. The Cardinals took the lead for all four quarters, causing North to lose. The final score was 70-45.
Northview and North went head to head on Dec. 16. The Knights lost the first two rounds but tied with the Cougars at 18 points in the third quarter. North beat Northview, scoring 85-70.
On Dec. 20, the boys played the Evansville North Huskies. The Huskies and Cougars tied the first quarter with 13 points. North won the second quarter, but lost the third one with six points. Even though they lost the last quarter by two points, the boys still managed to beat Evansville North, scoring 64-61.
The Cougars on Dec. 27, the boys went up against the Avon Orioles. The boys were ahead for all four quarters of the game. The final score was 77-40.
The annual North v. South game took place on Friday, Jan. 5. The boys lost to their rivals, the Panthers, ending their score with 55-26.
“Having the student body there makes games a lot more fun,” junior Evan Todd said.
The next day, the Cougars went to Seymour to play against the Seymour Owls. North won, with a final score of 63- 51.
North went against Evansville Central on Jan. 19, and lost to the Bears. The final score was 59-53. On the following day, Terre Haute South came to Bloomington, and beat the Cougars, 80-54.
The varsity team will end their season on Feb. 23, against New Albany.
