For two days, high schools from Indiana come to Bloomington for the Hoosier Cup, “Indiana’s Premier High School Soccer Tournament”.

On  Friday, despite the constant rain, both teams played at Karst Farm Park. The boys went against Pike High School at 6:30PM, tying 1-1. The girls went against Jennings County, winning the game 6-0.

Saturday was sunnier with a cool breeze throughout the night. Saturday morning the boys played Valparaiso, tying again 2-2. The girls played Jasper, which was the hardest game of the tournament senior Elizabeth Sowers said.

“We weren’t ready for them to come out playing hard,” she said after North had a good win Friday night. They lost to Jasper, 0-1.

For the last games, the boys went against South Bend John Adams, who was scoring quickly in the first ten minutes of the game. Senior Deniz Tezer kept the energy up by yelling positive comments to the team, and the boys started to score. In the second half, their score started to go down. They lost 1-2.

Parents and classmates cheered on the girls as they played against Evansville Central. The energy was high the entire game, with people cheering for players like senior Aledia Veldman and junior Grace Saccone. Throughout the game, Evansville was very close to scoring multiple goals but North worked together to prevent it. After a long, sweaty game, the girls beat them scoring 3-2.

When the last whistle blew, the girls had been named Hoosier Cup Champions for the EB8 Division. After their win, the girls hugged and cheered, celebrating their win. Once the fields were cleaned and the teams were ready to go, some of the team celebrated by going to Buffalo WIld WIngs while others went home after the long, rainy and sunny weekend.
